Cool New Gadgets - More Mango features uncovered: in-browser audio streams, Xbox Live voice chats, and more

That WP7 will be getting improved HTML5 support is nothing new but, that it will specifically support in-browser audio and continue to stream even if you navigate away from the browser or lock the screen, is music (literally) to our ears. Snippets discovered in a recent Mango dump have also turned up mentions of Xbox Live Voice chat, parties, multiplayer gaming, and tighter integration with the 360 for pushing Live content to your big screen. Cool New Gadgets - Apple sues Samsung again for copying the iPhone’s design, this time in South Korea

 Apple just filed a suit against Samsung Electronics in Seoul Central District Court, with Cupertino alleging that the Samsung Galaxy S copies the third-generation iPhone, according to a report from the online news site, MoneyToday. That closely matches the claims Apple made when it it sued  Samsung back in April for “slavishly” copying the iPhone and iPad. Since then, Apple’s expanded its case to include additional Samsung devices, including the Droid Charge, Infuse 4G, Nexus S 4G, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy S II, and a handful of others. Meanwhile, Samsung has attempted  (in vain) to subpoena prototypes of Apple’s next-gen iPhone and iPad. We wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung abandoned its efforts to peek Apple’s forthcoming products, but if this is, indeed, destined to be a case of déjà vu, Samsung might well strike back with a suit of its own.

Can you hear that? That’s the sound of our chubby thumbs breathing a sigh of relief. The Card.io SDK for iOS is now available at the source link below, and an Android version should be close behind.

In an attempt to edge its way into the crowded mobile payments market, a new credit card scanning system is saying “ah, hell no!” to typing and swiping. Card.io is billed as an SDK that takes advantage of smartphone cameras to let devs accept credit, because, as its creators point out, “typing on mobile phones is slow, and most consumers don’t have a separate hardware attachment.” When it’s time to pull out the plastic, Card.io gets your phone’s camera going, and up pops a little green rectangle, in which you frame your card and snap a pic.

Cool New Gadgets - Samsung Galaxy S II for AT&T ratted out by its own HDMI dock

Samsung’s Singapore division has a series of professional shots of planned accessories, including this “Samsung Galaxy S II Desktop Dock,” a handsome pyramid stand sporting HDMI and 3.5mm stereo-out jacks — and of course, an AT&T logo on its comfortably cradled smartphone. We’re still not quite  sure when Samsung’s flagship will hit the US,

 but it had better get a move on — we’re slated to see a Galaxy S III by this time next year, after all.

Update: We should probably note it looks like the Galaxy S II’s seen a bit of a makeover for AT&T, gaining the four familiar capacitive touch buttons and generally appearing more like the Infuse 4G.

Cool New Gadgets - MOTOBLUR name phased out due to public feedback

Asked what precisely is going on with the interface, a Motorola spokesperson confirmed CEO Sanjay Jha’s earlier comments that the handset manufacturer is moving away from the name, adding that the decision was due in part to public feedback. Pieces of the UI’s social functionality will remain present on devices, however, combined with more enterprise-focused features delivered as part of the company’s purchase of 3LM. Of course, all of this not talking about MOTOBLUR certainly hasn’t stopped the company from singing its praises.

 The first rule of MOTOBLUR  is do not talk about MOTOBLUR. Not in public at least. We got a bit of a mixed message on the matter, while discussing the newly announced Motorola Photon 4G with the company. Representatives mentioned the UI by name during our hands-on, but failed to discuss the proprietary Android skin in any press materials discussing the device.

Walmart temporarily drops iPhone 4 price to $147, not that you’ll be able to find one

With no new iPhone in sight, the retailer is selling the 16GB version for $147 on contract — the kind of stunt we’d expect it to pull in an effort to reel in holiday shoppers. Why do we sound so unappreciative, you might ask? Easy: because you probably won’t be able to get your hands on one. The sale, which applies to AT&T and Verizon models, lasts until June 30, and only an unspecified number of “select” stores will even be participating. No word on how many discounted phones Walmart has to shill, but both the black and white versions are sold out online, which doesn’t exactly bode well for your chances of scoring one in person.

Motorola clarifies position on Android apps, is still cool with developer community - funspygadgets

when Sanjay Jha seemingly threw Android developers under the proverbial bus with last week’s comments, it seemed only a matter of time before the backtracking commenced. Motorola has fittingly issued a clarification on the CEO’s statement, explaining that Jha didn’t mean to suggest that apps were at fault for 70-percent of returns. Instead, they’re a contributing factor, along with poor battery life and slow performance. The company also took a moment to point out its continued support of the Android developer community, just in case anyone on that side was planning on adding to the aforementioned return rate.

Funspygadgets - Apple’s iOS 5: all the details

Keep one tab in your browser locked to this post as we update it with all the new features, and throw another one open for our liveblog where you’ll get to see and read the very latest as it happens.

We’ve now put together the full list of highlights from the WWDC presentation, which you’ll find after the break. iOS 5 will be made available this fall, with compatibility promised for the iPhone 4 and 3GS, iPad 1 and 2, and iPod touch 3rd and 4th generation.

• Firstly, stats. Scott notes that Apple has so far sold 200 million iOS devices, with more than 25 million of those being iPads. There have been 14 billion downloads from the App Store, tallying over $2.5 billion paid out in revenue to app developers. The iTunes Store isn’t doing badly, either, with 15 billion songs sold.

• And the first new feature: an overhaul of notifications. At last! A new Notification Center aggregates all your, well, notifications into one and is accessible by swiping down a menu from the top of the screen. Yes, just like Android. Small X buttons alongside each note allow you to dismiss it, though there’s no “clear all” option for the more decisive among us. Notifications are also making their way onto the lockscreen, where swiping across a text message takes you right into it. A little something like Samsung’s TouchWiz implementation.

• * Newsstand is a new place to house all your magazine and newspaper subscriptions.

• Twitter integration is also coming to iOS 5, with a single sign-in allowing a multitude of apps to make use of your Twitter credentials. That includes the Camera and Photos programs, finally letting you tweet images out directly from your galleries.

• Safari Reader is a new browser feature that will strip out distractions and present the text of a webpage with no other excess content. Accessible via a button next to the address bar. Also added to the iOS browser is a Reading List, which does what the name suggests by accumulating a list of pages you want to read later. Accessible on multiple devices. Tabbed browsing is making a debut in v5.0 as well, which is sure to be a boon for iPad users.

• Reminders is another self-descriptive feature. This one’s intelligent enough to remind you to do things based on your location. It’ll sync across devices and with your calendar.

• Yay, there’s now a camera button right on your lockscreen! The volume-up button is also doubling up as a physical shutter release key when you’re in the camera app. Pinch-to-zoom is said to be available right in the app, while holding your finger down on a particular area will lock down exposure to optimize the shot for its particular lighting. Some new in-device editing options have also been added, including cropping, rotation, red-eye reduction, and a one-click enhance option.

• A new split keyboard has also been shown off in iOS 5.

• Headline feature: PC Free! No more cables required for syncing. Now we’re talking. Setting up and activating a new iOS device can be done right on the device itself, and syncing will be wireless too — there’ll be no need to tether to a computer anymore. Over-the-air updates are also part of the new deal, and in better news still, they’ll contain only the data that’s changed, meaning you won’t have to re-download the entire OS every time Apple opts to make a minor tweak.

• Another pretty significant novelty: iMessage. It’s a messaging service exclusively for iOS users (irrespective of which device they’re rocking), which comes with delivery and read receipts, an indicator for when the other party is typing, and the ability to push messages to all your devices. Kinda, sorta like BBM. You’ll be able to send messages, photos, videos, and contacts. Group messaging will also be available. It works over either WiFi or 3G and looks to be making good use of Apple’s new push notifications.

• Perhaps the biggest innovation of all in iOS 5, however, will be the way iCloud affects the use of your mobile device. Hit up our overview post of the company’s new cloud-syncing solution to learn all about it.

• iOS 5 will ship in the fall to the following devices: iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, iPad 1 and 2, and iPod touch 3rd and 4th generation.

HTC EVO 3D launches on June 24th for $200, joined by EVO View 4G tablet at $400 Funspygadgets

Two of the “must-have” gadgets of 2011 are getting ready to make their debut. MSI’s Afterburner Android app makes GPU overclocking as easy as Facebooking- Funspygadgets

 At Computex this week, the outfit took things one step further with the Afterburner Android app. Purportedly, the GPU tool enables users to monitor the temperature, voltage and fan speed of their graphics card via a WiFi connection, and if you’re feeling froggy, you can overclock and overvolt to your heart’s content. Details beyond that are few and far betwixt, but we’re hearing that it’ll soon work with GPUs from other vendors, and that an iOS variant is en route.

The leading graphics card and mainboard manufacturer, MSI, today display the Android version of its popular Afterburner overclocking utility for graphics cards at Computex 2011. Funspygadgets - The Sony Ericsson Urushi leaks again: ST18i exposed

ready for a few holes of Lets Golf 2. Inside is a 1GHz ARM processor with an Adreno 205 GPU which, if you’re on top of your SOCs you’d know, means there’s a single-core Snapdragon under the hood. It appears Sony put a meager 335MB of RAM on board — enough for basic use, but it’ll probably get bogged down under heavy multitasking.
